Through a story, the children are taken on an interactive adventure illustrated by pictures, songs, props and games. It’s a great opportunity for the children to listen to the French language and speak it within a group.

The reading lasts about 45 minutes and can hold as many children as your room allows. We can stay for day and repeat the story as many time as required to cover as many classes as you need.
​
The readings are suitable for children from 4 year old. We can easily adapt the story to their level of French and other abilities.
The story teller only needs 15 minutes to get ready and can perform in your own class room. The children will be, ideally, seated on the floor and will be asked (only if they want to) to take part in the story and speak a bit of French. The story teller brings many props and music to ensure that the session is fun and memorable.
The French Tales are an amazing introduction to the French language.

Introduction:

We always sing “bonjour” and “aurevoir”, There is also a song within the tales which is repeated enough time for the children to join in. (for EYFS and KS1)
The story teller also takes the time to see how many French words the children already know.

Story Time:
Our stories are in our two languages: French and English. They are always very simple and we use pictures to illustrate them. They can be very famous tales or adaptation from modern stories. We introduce French words through the repetitions and various games. The children take part by playing some of the characters..

Music and Dancing
We always finish our session with a big dance off with props. We play a famous modern French song. The story teller may bring their ukulele if you are lucky!!.

Stickers
At the end of the session, the children leave with a French Tales sticker. We are also happy to provide vocabulary sheets and sheets activities related to the story.
The French Tales is an experience first developed for a season of performances and storytelling at the French Institute of London.
